Michael Cox is a multi-instrumentalist from his days at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Berklee in 1981 with a B.A. in Composition. He became passionate about electronic dance music in his late 20’s all the way through his mid 60’s. Michael's love of Arabic music as well as other Middle Eastern styles of music began in his late teen years while still in High School, playing in Greek nightclubs, he then began his journey into Arabic classical music. He played cello and bass guitar in an all Arab, classical Egyptian music ensemble in Los Angles, CA, known at the time as "Kanzaman". Michael became quite well-known as the DJ - Petrol Bomb Samosa, by remixing many songs for Caravan Records owned by Mher Panossian (of Bellydance.com fame)

“Raks Zahra” (2009), is all originally composed music by Michael Cox, with some remixes of drum rhythms by the legendary drummer/composer, Hossam Ramzy and famous musician/composer, Issam Houshan, whose rights of use were approved by both Hossam and Issam's publishers. Michael Cox has full copyright ownership, and his wife, Cheryl Cox (aka Zahra Zuhair) has full copyright ownership of all of the Raks Zahra CD.
